my story
Originally from New Jersey, I was raised by the ocean and still feel most at home in the water. I've always loved spending time in nature and when I moved out west for graduate school I ended up falling in love with Tahoe and am happy to now call it home. I travel as often as I can, and remote work has given me the opportunity to stay connected even when I'm away. I work online because it has helped me take my life back and better accommodate my own neurodivergent needs. I strive to lead by example in living my most authentic and healed life.
Work With Me
MY journey
I earned my Bachelor's degree at Georgian Court University in 2011, where I studied Psychology and Holistic Health. I decided to pursue a career in counseling at Monmouth University, where I earned my Master's of Mental Health Counseling in 2016. During my master's program, I also studied meditation, philosophy, and acupuncture at the Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing, the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and with private practitioners in Xi’an, China. I am passionate about yoga, meditation, and the outdoors, so I also became a nationally certified yoga instructor and ecotherapist. I incorporate yoga, movement, and nature into my practice as a counselor and coach. I moved out west and got my doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Reno, Nevada in 2019. I have continued my education in sexual and gender issues, neurodivergence, ecotherapy, and existential analysis since graduating, and am involved in ongoing research & professional training. Currently, I am a full time professor at Saybrook University in both the clinical mental health counseling master’s program and the counselor education and supervision doctoral program; previously I taught for 4 years in the University of Denver’s school counseling program. I have experience in school, clinical, and hospital settings, but today I maintain a small caseload in private practice, in addition to my academic work.
Credentials
My values
I bring my full, authentic self with me into every counseling session and while that is vulnerable, it helps us deeply connect human-to-human. My goal is for you to feel empowered, as you learn how to care and show up for yourself until you don't need me anymore. You can count on me to be direct but compassionate with you because I know we don't have time to waste. I identify as a feminist and take a holistic approach to the work, so we'll explore issues through a social justice lens and work to cultivate wellness in your body, mind, and soul. My ultimate hope is for you to live in alignment with your truth.
