resources

for the seekers & self-healers

If you can’t afford therapy right now, but really resonated with my approach and practices, here is what I would recommend for healing on your own:

For an Existential approach: Read or Listen to It's On Me by Sara Kuburic

For an Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach: Read (or Listen) to Self-Therapy by Jay Earley
Follow along with the Workbook as your guide (you can involve a friend or partner, too!)
Get even deeper in your healing with advanced work for your Protecters and Exiles.

If you have questions about your gender or sexuality…

I recommend reading and doing the guided exercises of these Practical Guides: How to Understand Your Sexuality & How to Understand Your Gender

The authors also expanded on their ideas in Life Isn’t Binary

If you’re ready to start your transition or want to explore gender affirming care options…

The Transgender Map is a comprehensive resource for anyone questioning, transitioning, or supporting a loved one.

If you're local, head over to the Nevada Gender Clinic website.

If you need help connecting to your sexual self…

I recommend the Coral App, CHEEX, ShopEnby, and Come As You Are

If you want to strengthen or change your relationship(s)…

I recommend reading: Polysecure, More Than Two, Mating in Captivity, Come As You Are, and All About Love

You can also try apps like Coral

If you want more information on autism or ADHD…

I recommend the tests on Embrace-Autism; the owner of this website is also the diagnosing doctor and is neurodivergent herself, Dr. Natalie Engelbrecht. Her and her team have made screening tools with strong psychometric value free and available to the public, with complete guides on how to score and interpret your own scores. While this is not a substitute for a professional diagnosis, which Dr. Engelbrecht also offers, it may help you understand yourself better.

If you're a Tahoe local, I highly recommend Cady Stanton and the Facilitate Joy! team

If you want to take a deep dive into ecotherapy…

I recommend reading Nature is Nurture, Ecotherapy: Healing With Nature in Mind, Voice of the Earth, and Braiding Sweetgrass. You can also watch my presentation about ecotherapy for ASCA, or read one of my articles in ASCA School Counselor, Counseling Today, Ecopsychology, and the Journal of Creativity in Mental Health.

If you are looking for community…

I recommend checking in with Our Center (for locals), browsing through Reddit subs (there's something for everyone), and using MeetUp to find people with similar interests.

If you want to hear more about my beliefs & approach…

I recommend reading the book It's On Me by existential analyst Sara Kuburic, as it provides an overview of what we'll explore, or listening to this Podcast on Spotify that highlights my beliefs and values.

If you are looking for professional development or trainings…

I recommend The Affirmative Couch, CIIS, Modern Sex Therapy Institutes, Making Health Happen, Letter Writing, in addition to the resources given freely to members of the Gender, Romantic & Sexual Minorities Peer Consultation Group.

If you are going into private practice…

I recommend joining the groups Simple Profit for Mental Health Clinicians and the Facebook page, Anna Walker’s Facebook group and Courses, and Northern Nevada Therapists (for locals). There general information for Private Pay Practitioners and Therapists in Private Practice on those pages. Maybe you are a remote, alternative (do you tarot?), or neurodivergent therapist like me! We also chat on Discord.
